Young India
Rangaiah Naidu (Dasari Narayana Rao), a superintendent of police, advises them, that they have every right to commit suicide. But, one had to die after doing something worthy for the society. Then only people, will remember them even after their death. He tells them to prove that they could do something. In order to prove this point, they extend solidarity to a girl, who was staging a hunger strike and join her in the fast. After 11 days, she succeeds in her protest to marry a boy, son of the commissioner or police, who allegedly ditched her. This proves to be a major victory and everyone appreciate them as their photos flash in news channels and newspapers. They become celebrities in the eyes of people. With this spirit, they launch an organisation called ‘Young India’ to help people who were in need of help. Once they get an e-mail about a software company who turned its board, by diverting all the money into a real estate business. Young India brings out all the facts and bring the culprits to book. After this, they get a call from Savyasachi, a doctor, who reveals a big scam involving ArogyaMata scheme of the government. He tells Young India, how the corporate hospitals were cheating the government and amassing crores of rupees. Young India prepares a plan and gathers all the evidence on irregularities. The MD of a corporate hospital, who had come to know about it, implicates them in a rape case. He also brings in political pressure from Home Minister. However, the three youths, who were in jail, tell their counterparts who were outside to submit the evidence to Chief Minister (Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad). On being snubbed by CM, the Home Minister makes a murder attempt on the Chief Minister and he becomes the CM, as the latter was hospitalised. In order to eliminate the three youths, who were in jail, the police hatch a plan and release them. Then they follow them and make an attempt to encounter them. But the three escape and with the help of Naidu, they relieve the CM from hospital and in the climax they prove that they are innocent by making the culprits admit their mistakes. People on their own teach them a lesson.
PERFORMANCE:
Dasari Narayana Rao played a key role in the film, but it is not known why he chose dialogues in Tamil accent. While starting the film, he claimed that he is selecting all Telugu-speaking people for his film as he wanted to prove that there is no dearth of talent in the state. But it is unfortunate that a senior like him, spoke a broken Telugu which is nothing but degrading the Telugu language. Though the youths who were selected gave an impressive performance, none of them had an appealing look. Thank God, he did not keep any love thread between the heroes and heroines and left them as just friends. Senior artistes like Brahmanandam, AVS and other did justice to their roles. The artistes who played roles like Home Minister and Media Baron gave a notable performance like experienced artistes.
TECHNICAL:
Music by Manisharma is okay and the re-recording is good and elevated some scenes in the film. Camera work by Ramana Rao is also okay, while Gauthamraju’s editing should be a little more crisp. Screenplay in the first half is okay but the director lost grip in the second half. After the interval bang, the audiences felt bored for almost an hour. However, he gained grip in the climax and some how the climax appeared impressive. While penning the story, he had a good and impressive beginning. However, in order to run the story, he chose to lift points from other films like ‘Paradesi’ of K Raghavendra Rao, and Kalyanapraptirastu of his own film. He chose to criticise the present media, especially the TV channels, in the second half and made the film boring. Screenplay was also very poor in the second half.
REMARKS:
Dasari received over 22,000 applications from enthusiastic artistes and of them he picked only 81 of them. It is a surprise that Pradyumna, the grandson of Mahanati Savitri and son of Chamundeswari is one among those selected. Though he claimed that it is a coincidence, it appears he succumbed to some kind of pressure. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad some how made his screen presence felt in the film. The remix of Vandanam Abhivandanam song is good. Dasari tried to work on a recycled script. One had to wait and watch how far it would fare at the Box Office.
