Joru (Live & Love)
The film opens with the suicide of a boy, who failed to secure the love from his girl friend, as she got married to a boy who lives abroad as per her parents’ wish. The boy’s father (LB Sriram), who is a fishermen, weep inconsolably. While returning after cremating the boy, he comes across Kittu (Aravindkumar), who lost both his parents in an accident. He adopts Kittu as he lost his parents. Kittu fails to grow up properly, but get used to vices, like smoking, drinking, gambling and what not. But his father continues to love him. Once a girl called Sunita (Akarsha) in a bid to escape from ragging, tells ‘I love you’ to Kittu and mesmerises him. She continues to befriend with him. One fine morning, Kittu reveals his love to Sunita and the latter laughs at him and questions how a girl could love an irresponsible fellow like him as he doesn’t have education or property. Unable to digest her refusal, Kittu too decides to commit suicide. At this juncture, one Amar (Saikumar) meets Kittu and pushes him into the sea as he doesn’t want to live. Everyone blame Sunita that she was responsible for Kittu’s death. She leaves Vizag and reaches Mumbai and stays with her grandmother (Gitanjali) and completes her education. Accidentally, she meets a look-alike of Kittu, whose name is Anand. He is a software employee and had parents and sister. She falls in love with him and one day Sunita proposes him. However, Anand says that his ambition is to reach the peak in his career and had no such feeling towards her. Unable to digest the refusal, Sunita returns to Vizag and decides to commit suicide. Again Amar meets her there and also throws away into the sea. However, in the climax, the audiences come to know that after pushing them into the sea, Amar saved both Kittu and Sunita in different instances and explains them that one had to live and love and explains them the value of love. The film ends there itself.
PERFORMANCE:
Because one’s father had money to invest, anyone could become a hero these days. Aravind Kumar, son of producer S Mallesam, turned a hero, by virtue of money. But neither he had a handsome personality nor had a skill to perform. He could not emote well either with facial expressions or dancing skills. He is not at all a hero material but some how managed to stay as female lead. The heroine Akarsha, is also a debutant. She is good as far as looks. She too failed to give any notable performance but to some extent she is okay. Saikumar appears on screen for a couple of scenes to explain the theme of the film. Others like Sairabanu, Sana, Vizag Prasad, LB Sriram and others did justice to their roles.
TECHNICAL:
Chakri’s music is average and it appears that he gave the tunes and background score half-heartedly as the music is not up to his standards. Camera by V Jayaram is okay, while editing by Nandamuri Hari is also adequate. Lyrics had good literary values but none of them were tunes in a foot-tapping way. The director chose a good storyline but being a novice failed to present it properly on the screen. The screenplay was quite haphazard and the movement of the film was full of jerks. It is not known why a wayward boy goes to a college (during the first meeting of the hero and heroine). It was not properly explained how Kittu became the part of a rich family and how he became a software engineer in just two years. It is not known why Saikumar wanted to kill the lovers who wanted to commit suicide first and again save them and explain his love affair. It is not known why he was staying at the suicide spot every time. There are several glaring mistakes all through the film. The director failed to establish any of the characters properly and it is absurd that a person who decides to kill himself would change just on the advice of an unknown person.
