Pappu Review

Pappu (Krishnudu) had a different fate and his life is full of bad luck. Whatever he does would do good to others but for himself it turns a bad. Though he gets a job with merit, he loses because of his bad luck and such was his life. He used to work in a telecom company. His boss Lingaraju (Benarjee) believes in a Swamiji and he acts only with his acceptance for any work. Radha (Dipika) is his daughter. He loves his daughter very much. Lingaraju’s brother (Surya) suffers loss in his business. Lingaraju refuses to help him as his guru doesn’t give nod for it. Lingaraju tells Radha to work in their company itself and once their company hosts a party. At the end of the party Radha was about to return and she gets kidnapped by some goons, who demand Rs 100 cr ransom for her release. Lingaraju’s trusted lieutenant (Uttej) advices him to hire a private detective to resolve the issue and calls up Ram (Subbaraju). As per his tradition, Lingaraju meets the Swamiji and seeks his advice. After watching the kundalini of Radha, he advices that another person who has a better bad luck should be involved in the investigation to get Radha back safely. So, Pappu gets selected for the job and Ram and Pappu set to search for Radha. During their journey both of them turn good friends. After a few turn of events, they were able to locate Radha. In a bid to save Radha and Pappu, Ram gets grievous injuries and succumbs to injuries. With the loss of Ram, Pappu gets disturbed and kills all the goons who attacked them. In the climax, when Radha asks Pappu why he agreed to join the search for her, he replies that her father promised him to pay Rs 2 crore and he expresses his wish to give away that amount to Ram’s kin. Looking at his innocence, Radha tells her father that she wanted to marry Pappu and the film ends on a happy note.

Performance:

Krishnudu improved a lot in his body language, performance and portraying the emotions perfectly before the camera. Despite his obese body, he was able to impress the audiences with his performance. Especially, his expressions after the death of Subbaraju get lots of appreciation from audiences. He emoted well in every frame. Deepika is okay despite being a debutant. She, however, need to improve his lip movement during the dialogue delivery and should be more careful about her hairstyles as some her hairstyles in songs were not good to look at. Subbaraju, who is known as a good artiste, got a meaty role in this film. In fact, he played a role equivalent to the hero. However, the first fight involving him reminds us of Maheshbabu and the audiences would get a feel of imitating others. But, after that action scene, he changed his attitude and did his own style of performance. Sangeeta as hero’s mother, Benarjee, Uttej and Melkote did justice to their respective roles.

Technical:

Though the songs are not that melodious and impressive to watch, the background score is okay for the movie. Handling of camera by Rajendra Kesani is just okay and the editing by Chandrasekhar should have been little crisper and he should have avoided abruptness in some scenes. Production values of Arya Entertainments are noteworthy. As far as direction and cinematography, debutant director Sapan Pasumarthy should be more careful in narration of his story. Though the storyline is good and its presentation looks okay to some extent, but the director failed to explain the story in an impressive manner. Especially the scenes between Subbaraju and Krishnudu should have been much better if the director concentrated a little more. All this is because of his immaturity in penning a gripping screenplay for the movie. But, undoubtedly he is a promising director and he could do wonders if he works with a little more concentration.

Remarks:

Unlike earlier films of Krishnudu, the film is just not a comedy nor had a touch of sentiment and love. This time, he chose a little more action and drama in the subject. The film would definitely give a good break to Subbaraju and he had bright chances that he would definitely become a good action hero. The film as a whole is an entertainer. The audiences won’t feel bored while watching the movie. It is a time-pass film, though not a must watch.
